A GUIDE TO CHOOSING

WHICH HARAMAKI DO I NEED?

All haramakis warm the centre of the body, from the waist to the lower back, and hold in the heat your own body produces. What changes is the material, the moment or situation you'll wear it in, and your style preferences.

Comparison

We design all our Haramakis with the same goal: to hug you gently. What changes is the fabric, its qualities and the way each one is made.

What do you need it for?

Every moment of the year or the day calls for its own haramaki. Choose yours based on your usual activity, where you live or how you'll wear it.

AT WORK

If you spend time sitting or standing, the cold ends up creeping in around your kidneys. The cotton Haramaki is practical, holds your lower back and keeps you company.

OUTDOORS

Walking, cycling, a long trip... the ribbed haramaki stays in place. Merino wool breathes, lets moisture out and doesn't hold odours.

COLD DAYS

For when you need extra warmth on your belly and lower back. It feels warm from the moment you put it on, like a jumper around your waist.

STRAIGHT FIGURE

The rib knit stretches up to four times its width. It's less shaped at the waist and adapts to your body's shape without showing lines or squeezing.

SLEEP AND BREASTFEEDING

The extra-long one is 6 cm taller: you won't get cold even if you kick off the covers. It's our best-seller for sleeping or wearing with leggings. Also ideal while breastfeeding.

IF YOU DON'T WEAR WOOL

Because you don't feel the cold much or because you prefer vegan products. Organic cotton is plant-based and gentle on your skin.

HOW DO YOU LIKE TO DRESS?

Your style

You can wear the Haramaki under your clothes, against your skin, or on show as a fashion accessory over skirts, leggings or trousers.

If you're after cotton and have a favourite colour, or simply want a neutral tone to wear underneath, out of sight, choose unicolor. The reversible Haramaki, on the other hand, combines two colours to play with over your clothes: flip it and add a touch of colour to your look.

If you're after wool, the Fuji model brings energy with its bold colours inspired by the Japanese mountain, while the Pure collection uses a range of more classic, timeless shades that never go out of style. The Simma is for when you want an iconic design piece to wear on show.

If you're creative and colour says who you are, you can design your cotton haramaki in your favourite colours.

FOR EVERY STAGE

Pregnancy

The pregnancy model is specially designed to grow with your bump throughout pregnancy. The front panel opens like a fan while the back panel protects your lower back. It's the only model that's different at the front and back. We recommend checking the Size guide if you have any questions.

THE LITTLE ONES

Kids

For the little ones, we have 3 children's sizes from 3 to 12 years old, so they can enjoy the haramaki hug too.

Frequently asked questions

What is the haramaki for? What are its benefits?

The haramaki is an abdominal warmer: an elastic fabric band that covers you from the abdomen to the lower back and holds in your body's natural warmth without squeezing.

Almost all your vital organs are in this area (except the heart and lungs). Keeping it warm boosts circulation, helps them work better and gives you an instant feeling of well-being and security.

In everyday life it keeps you company when you have lower back pain, period discomfort, heavy digestion or a chill from changes in temperature. For us, it's like wearing a hug.

What materials do you use?

In our collections we use natural fabrics certified by GOTS in the case of cotton or RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) in the case of wool. Both guarantee not only the organic origin of the material but also decent working conditions for the people who produce it.

We also look for environmental and social commitment certificates for our Life is a hug T-shirts and bags.

In the Sustainability section you can find out more about our commitment to reducing textile waste through our "Zero waste" project.

How do I know my size?

The easiest way is to go by your usual clothing size. Cotton and wool stretch differently, but both adapt to your body as you wear them. As a general rule, if you're between two sizes, choose the smaller one.

We recommend checking our Size guide for more information on each model.

Remember that the haramaki isn't a girdle: it doesn't squeeze, it keeps you company. Its job is to keep you warm, not to compress.

What is the difference between the cotton haramaki and the wool one?

Both keep your belly warm and cared for, but each has its strengths.

The organic cotton one gives you a closer fit and you can wear it all year round —as an underlayer, doing yoga or light exercise, or just in your everyday life— and you can put it in the washing machine without any fuss.

The extra-fine merino wool one is your option if you feel the cold easily or want maximum comfort directly against your skin. It keeps you warmer, naturally regulates your temperature, doesn't itch and is ultralight: it keeps you warm without adding bulk. Although its thermoregulating properties make it suitable for more seasons, we especially recommend it for autumn and winter. Just give it a little extra care when washing: by hand or on a delicate cold cycle.

Is the haramaki only for women?

No, the haramaki is for anyone who wants to look after themselves and connect with their body. It wraps and comforts men and women alike: with the exception of the heart and lungs, the haramaki embraces your main vital organs, boosting blood circulation and giving you a pleasant feeling of comfort.

Here you'll find more information about what a haramaki is, its origin and properties.

What if it's a gift and I don't know the size?

You can give a gift card so they can choose their own haramaki. And if you choose for them, remember they can exchange it: see our returns and exchanges policy.
